Katharine Broderick, Creator of Truth Decays and Postgraduate Student at the University of Warwick
Hi, I’m Katharine, the creator of Truth Decays.
I am a postgraduate student at the University of Warwick, who created this blog under the supervision of Professor Michael Scott, as part of the University’s Research Support Scheme. While a postgraduate student now, studying for my MA by Research in Classics and Ancient History, I began this project when I was still an undergraduate student, studying Classical Civilisation.
I love learning about the Classical World, and am constantly finding new links between Ancient Civilisations and the norms of the modern world, my favourite being within modern politics. My MA dissertation focuses on a range of countries in the modern world, looking for links between those political systems and ancient ones.
Ancient Athenian Democracy and its legacy is not my only area of interest in the Ancient World – I love learning about Ancient Greek Theatre, and am particularly enjoying producing a version of Euripides’ Bacchae, to be performed at Warwick Arts Centre in 2022, and studied the reception of Euripides’ Medea for my Undergraduate dissertation.
I wholeheartedly believe that as Classics is such a broad area, with so many links to the modern world, there is something in Classics for absolutely everyone in the modern world to find interesting and find a passion within. So, why not explore my blog and see if you can find yours?
